Combine Helicopter Missiles: Secret Scripted Event?

Hi guys,

This is my first thread on the forums and it's gonna be a quickie.

Okay, i was reading the HL Wiki the other day and it said in the area where you first meet Dog (Chapter: Black Mesa East) when you have finished learning how to use the Gravity Gun and the Combine find the base, if you wait instead of running with Alyx a helicopter will fly overhead and fire MISSILES at the base.

I have never heard or seen any evidence of the helicopter firing missiles in any other part of Half Life 2 and Episodes.

Could someone show me a vid confirming this?

Why was it not included in the rest of the game?

It's included in game, but as a part of a scripted sequence/scene. I guess they didn't want/or had no place to use it against player (who knows).

The missles would have been awesome to use against us instead of the bombs. I want to see some helicopters firing missles in Ep3!

Isn't there something in Raising The Bar about how whoever was programming the helicopter AI accidentally made it drop bombs instead of shoot missiles and it worked so well they left it like that?

It was actually that he was programming to shoot a burst of machinegun fire and accidentally said bombs instead of machine gun, making it drop one bomb for every bullet it supposed to fire, nearly crashing the computer. It was so funny they decided to keep it.

Indeed. I think you've pretty much been answered here. I would have liked more missiles in the game but that's all cool. They said they were originally planning the Episode Two chopper sequence to be in Episode Three, but since it was so successful and probably worked better with Episode Two's vehicle ride, they implemented it in that episode instead. So maybe Episode Three will push the Helicopter features even higher.
