Combine the stories of Portal and Half-Life into one game?

This is just a thought I have been mulling over. Doesn't seem too likely. I mean, they are already working in some Aperture elements what with the Borealis being found and all.

What got me thinking about it is the fact that Half-Life 2 Ep3 wasn't announced, and Portal 2 was instead. Could this be because they want to develop the Portal 2 story more so that it can "catch up" with the events in Half-life 2, and then finally create a game that combines the two plots?

No, the reason they are not making Half Life 2: Ep 3 is because they have been planning on L4D 2: Ep1.

The events of Portal 2 will tie the events between L4D 2 and L4D2 : EP1.
