how many of you are going through half-life right now :)

i am (as are my 2 housemates) and i'd forgotten how good it really was! it hasnt aged a bit! :D

I would be if I had the money to buy it... gotta save up for HL2 and I don't have a job, just that pesky allowance my parents give me. Oh well, I'll survive.

I finished up playing through the series a few nights ago, steam says I have Uplink but it won't let me play it for some reason.

I played through the original HL a couple of weeks ago. Still a great game - Xen still sucks.

I actually just beat Opposing Force for the first time and am a good deal of the way through Blue Shift (also for the first time).

Good stuff.

I'm just playing through Surface Tension for a moment. Best HL level, IMHO.

the middle portion of halflife(the outside stuff-zen) was by far the best creation in the history of gaming. I still get chills every time I think about it.

Yeah, I've been playing it, too. :) I figured I'd brush up on it before I played HL2. I had forgotten how cool the lights on Xen were... the little ones that react to you coming near.

still got to get to zen...

ok so i kinda took it a little too far...

I have the stupid cd, but my case broke ages ago and I lost the cd key <grumbles> Screw finding some cd key generator, I want it legit... so either I buy a new game, or I don't play it at all. And that's what i've done, I haven't played it for a loong time now. It's sitting up there with all my other game cds. TONS of em.

yep, replaying it on steam actually. It works quite well too. Just like....old times.

Surface Tension is indeed the best HL level. I was shocked by its quality the first time I played it. The cliff section? Classic. Hope they have more stuff like that in HL2.

Surface Tension was indeed the best level ever made. even better than the truly classic middle levels of dark forces.

Yeah, I'm playing through again as well. But I'm doing so in a way I couldn't have before -- in high-resolution software rendering mode. I'd forgotten how nice their software renderer was. Given the low resolution of HL's textures (in a modern context) I actually prefer the look of software. There's more contrast in the lighting, with richer blacks, and the absence of hardware-imposed bilinear filtering makes the textures look quite good.

So my new HL2 rig can play HL in software mode in 1600x1200 at 30 fps! 8)
