This is my first time using the built to order system, I need to know if the hardware will be compatible. The last thing i want is find out that my motherboard isn't compatible with video card and so forth. What do I need to upgrade also? I am using this configurator...

http://www.buyxg.com/system/amd_config/amd_config.htm

Thanks.

Meh, most is okay... except.

The FX5200 is a truly horrible graphics card and should be avoided at ALL costs. To play HL-2 with no problems, try for at least a 9800Pro (~US$200).

Everything looks fine compatibility wise (speed read), although you might want to spend slightly more on the motherboard. The KT400 is a dated chipset and probably wont give you the best performance for the amount you're paying for it. Look for possibly the NForce2 or KT-600.

EDIT: Wow, you're also going to want more RAM. Go for 512 and above.

Personaly, I'd go with a bigger harddrive. And some chrome. Maybe some neon lights... And a few decals. Also, I hear black cases arnt compatible with Half-Life2.

Ok, I was only serious on the harddrive part. The black case thing was from a thread on PHL. (You're also gonna want to avoid processors that are too fast for the game - might overrun the buffer, which would cause your computer to explode. Giant fireball, carnage, etc.)

Also, this oD1Nz guy knows what he's talking about. *Pokes him with a crowbar*

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. What about buyxg.com itself, how would you rate their service? Also do they build the cpu and then send it or do you have to put the parts together yourself?

I've ordered parts from them before. They were pretty good.
