compiler error on "sdk" build

do you have to use "Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 v7.1 application." to mod for hl2 or will visual c++ .net 2005 express work? Im wondering if your supposed to be able to compile a ready to go build of "create a mod"

valve say you need vs.net 2003 to make hl2 mods.

some people have gotten it to work on other compilers tho
