Well, ever since I bought a third stick of ram, one that matches the brand of my other two I also bought, my computer takes considerably longer to boot up now.

I have 3 sticks of pc3200 400mhz 1024mb ram. Two of them are in a pair, the third is a single. This means I am no longer operating in dual channel mode, which my computer warns me about every time I restart the computer.

I read that the difference between dual and single channel mode(on toms hardware) is so negligible that it would be almost impossible to notice a difference.

I don't notice a difference once in windows, but for my computer to boot up it takes way longer than it used to. Painfully long almost. Part of the reason I think is that it takes a bit of time in the POST checking and then warning me that the computer is operating in single channel mode, and not dual channel mode.

Is there any way to still allow the POST memory check yet disable the whole check and warning for the stupid single channel memory mode? In fact, it doesn't even show me the warning anymore... it takes a long time, and then flashes it quickly across the screen before continuing on with windows login. I can't even press Break in time before it goes away.

I'd just turn off all the POST checks... they just waste your time imo

how often do you restart anyways?

I think there should be an option in the BIOS to disable dual-channel which looks something similar to "DRAM config: 32/64/Auto/up/down" depending on your MB BIOS.

Good Luck.

If I'm installing stuff that I think warrants a restart, a couple times a day.

Generally I turn my computer on in the morning, and turn it off as I go to bed.

I would prefer not to disable POST.

I'll check that out and see if those options are in my BIOS. Thanks.

Bullshit. I contradicted this statement last night in my e6750 thread.

Dual channel mode activated!...
Lolol.

Wow. PC booted fast. Gonna screw with stuff see if this was the source of my problem.
This thing is hauling ass right now, and still underclocked.

I'm tempted to buy another 1 gig stick of ram for my computer, even though my operating system is 32 bit and can only utilize like 3.4 or something of the 4 gigs.

<sighs>

I wish windows would recognize the rest of my ram. For some reason Medal of Honor: Airborne only sees 2 gigs, when windows recognized 3.5gigs.
