Computer degrading :(

i need help, somethings wrong with my pc.. its degraded so it runs slower and slower... evidence: my games arent running as well as they used to.
half life has a low framerate... HALF LIFE!!!!!
call of duty struggles in low settings
battlefield 1942 plays like doom3 .....
doom3 runs in bullet time...
a
1.6ghz athlon 512mb RAM Gforce4 mx 440 PC is well capable of running HL (on high res), Bf42, and call of duty on decent settings....

advice? ive, cleaned up hard drive, defragged, virus checked spyware removed ect.

Try shutting off applications running in the background.
And sometimes you just can't beat a fresh install.

Have you noticed windows slowing as well? Maybe you have dust built up in your case.

might be too much spyware from all the porn sites you visit. run some spyware scanners: adaware, spybot s&d, CWS shredder etc.

Using Ad-aware and Spybot is the best way to do it, they pick up the things the other misses. I have SpySweeper, I like it.

i cant really see how clean install will really help much.
