Basicly, when ever I play a game on my computer without music playing in the background (I usauly just mute it) the computer will freeze, most of the time on the loading screen. Also, this does not happen on any game that runs on Source. Whenever I play a video on youtube or whatever, and then don't turn on music afterwords, the comp will freeze. This started happening several months ago, and I'm sick of it. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. The computer doesn't acualy freeze, it just runs very very slow, and the CPU is stuck at 100% use.

SPECS:
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+, ~2.2GHz

2048MB RAM

Hard Drive:
203 GB

Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX

Sound Card:
NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio

I'm sorry, but that has to be one of the stupidest problems I've ever heard of. "My PC runs bad if I don't let it play music...". I'm guessing no-one has offered any help for two main reasons. 1 - no-one has ever heard of a computer "freezing unless music is playing". 2 - This is a game forum. Mostly kids come here, and they know how to fix a few problems too, but probably not something weird like that. Try an actual PC support forum for this problem.

Wow Shasta, why are you so damn hostile?

Also, I have no idea what might cause your problem. Have you tried a reformat? Might fix it...

I wasn't being hostile at all. I even STARTED my damn post with "I'm sorry", as in "I don't mean to offend, but...."

Dumbass.

There. NOW I was being hostile. Sort of.

And of course he could re-format. But he probably doesn't know how, or he would have done that already. It's the only thing that would be guaranteed to exorcise demons like the ones his PC has.

Do you leave your browser on while playing a game? Which browser do you use?

What do you use to play your music? You said NOT source games but didn't say what games it DOES freeze with, any?

Is it something that JUST started happening? Anything you change or install with your PC recently?

something might be running in the background so check to see if there is anything odd, or better yet take a screenshot of your task manager so us techy people can help you out if you don't know what most of your processes mean.

I fixed it, apparently there were several viruses in my Windows folder. Don't know why I didn't look first.
