Okay. Well I have an absolutely heated love affair with computer graphics and especially animations. It's one of those fields I dream about doing, but lack the talent, especially artistically.

I still love to look at the stuff though, so please... post videos of really cool CG animation artwork here that others can appreciate.

Just to get it started, here's a video compilation of stuff that was shown at SIGGRAPH 2007. It's a sort of computer graphics animation gathering, much like sundance is for independent film festivals. And much like E3 etc.

Siggraph is where it's always at for 3D. Hopefully I can go to the next one.

That's the intro to my demo reel (shitty youtube quality). MY full demo-reel or just that car video links are below; I didn't have much time for cutting it together, considering I lost a job, they refused to give me portfolio material, etc, then I found a better job a couple weeks later. I should probably replace a lot of the material anyway, because I can do so much better.

EDIT: Here are some REALLY old animations of mine . . .

I posted a whole bunch in another thread that nobody looked at. Ill just quote it.

I figured I would try and find a bunch of the awesome animations and shorts I saw while attending Siggraph. These are the ones I found so far.

Raymond (I suggest watching others while this one loads, it takes a few minutes)

Thanks guys! And yeah, Krynn... I don't remember that thread or even know if I have seen it... so thanks for reposting here. :)

No problem. It only got 60 views and no replies, so im not surprised :)

This is what I've done with a group of guys at uni for our motion capture project.

We didn't have to do all that, only needed to show the biped, we just did all this in our spare time between other work, which wasn't much time!

All of these videos give me "We're sorry, this video is no longer available".

I think I have brainworms.

edit- now they work.

sometimes I have to refresh the page & then click on the video (to go to youtube) for the videos to work.

This is a great fluid dynamics demo from RealFlow 4. I love computer generated fluids. I just wish I could make them.

I hear Blender actually has fluid dynamics in it that rivals the capabilities of other pay programs.

I love Blender. Some of the stuff you can create with that program are absolutely mind blowing.

How come no -one has posted Kiwi yet? That was a really good animation short :(

All he does is slap on some mo-cap data, possibly rename some joints, and then hit the render button.

Bumping again because of awesomeness.

Elephant's Dream, made in Blender.

Basically I think 7 CGI students went crazy with Blender for eight months, and this is what came from it. It took 125 days for the BSU Xseed supercomputing cluster to render.

There must be a massive site somewhere where loads of people upload their CGI work for others to view, review etc.. By CGI I mean still renderings or animations, including stuff made by amatures in their spare time, like DeviantArt but for CGI. I had a quick look on Google but couldn't find one, so does anyone here know of anything like that?

www.CGSociety.org (check out their forums, they have a showcase section for still images and animations, as well as 2D Art)
www.3DTotal.com has some stuff as well, but cgsociety is by far the biggest.
