im sure this is the top question of the forum, but everything installed smoothly onto my PC, steam is fully functional, but when it says preparing to launch half life, nothing happens

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2.01 GHz
512 MB of RAM
NVIDIA graphics card

make sure you have updated drivers for your graphics card and the latest version of directX: 9.0c. you can find nvidia drivers at nvidia.com and directX 9.0c at microsoft.com. pretty simple... reply with results... if that doesnt work some more info on your problem and better system spec would help.

another thing to add, i have 3 monitors, all different brands, dont know if this effects gameplay or not, but

COMPAQ S700 Color Monitor on Matrox Graphics Millennium PCI
-Medium (16 bit) color quality

Micron monitor on Matrox Graphics Millennium 2 PCI
-Highest (32 bit) color quality

Compaq Monitor on MVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro
-Highest (32 bit) color quality


Other than that i have different firewalls running that i dont know what to do with...

VALVE online has told me to allow the products through the firewalls, i tried, but HL2 still doesnt run.

at the same time?! are you useing all those moniters at the same time?! wow... well the monitor doesnt affect gameplay... did you try what i told you , you should?

direct x 9 will not make a difference on hl but you might try to just run with one graphics card i mean what do you need 3 monitors for?

i have 3 monitors for video editing, makes things alot easier, but all my cards are updated and HL2 still doesnt start, i reinstalled it too. i dont know what to do... im going to try to unplug 2 of my monitors to see if it will work. so it only sees one video card and not 3

it will still see the video card even if you dont have the monitors plugged in. if something is plugged into the computer it will still read it

hey i installed steam on my comp and i look and see in the task manager and it says that steam is running but it isnt in my system tray and its not in their. so know i cant use it can any1 help
