I restart - gets to loading up the taskbar and then it freezes. In safe mode it's fine.

Anything you can recommend trying? It won't work if I boot in safe mode then restart normally. System restore doesn't work either (as in I restore it to an older date and it still doesn't get past loading steam/msn/etc) :(

Sorry for being so vague, I have literally no clue what has caused this

Run your virus checker in safemode - check windows/system32 for odd looking .exes :O

Sounds like a virus to me.. I could well be wrong..

It is really hard since there are not many symptoms but it could be some program that is running. In safe mode click start --> go to run and in the box that appears type in msconfig . Then go to services. Click "hide all microsoft services", then uncheck all of the boxes. Then go to startup and uncheck all of the boxes. Restart and if this is a software problem this might solve it, if not go do the opposite to make sure no new problems were created. Also some services would be disabled when doing this so go back and check the boxes that you need like "Nvidia" "LexBce" (a printer server) or MSNmsgr. Hope that helps !

I love you!

I think I know what buggered up now, I tried to update my AV (PC-Cillin) manually because it wouldn't work with the program, did as it said on the Trend site but it didn't work.

Stopped it from loading (did it from startup in msconfig originally, but disabling it from services sorted it), uninstalled it, and my computer is fine now :D

Cheers again!
