I had recently installed a new heatsink, (actually I had my dad take off the heatsink since it was around 1 in the morning and I had to use the bathroom) which was a Tt Volcano 9. (Yes it was compattible with my mobo/proccessor) When I came back, he had a metal spoon under the mobo to prop it up (The case was wierd and had the mobo elevated about an inch over the botom of the case.), I didnt think nothing of it, I put the other heatsink on, and when I went downstairs and turned it on it said "Please Check connectiong Signal" atfirst i thought i didnt have the monitor plugged in, But after checking I did. It still persissted even after changing the video card, and plugging in a different monitor. So i've come to the conclusion that the mobo was some how fried in the mess. (It also no longer beeps on the startup) I am just about ready to order a new asus amd mobo. But i still need to check and see if there is anything I could do before I go and spend 100 dollars :)

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today over the soul of whaley's mobo. May it rest in peace.

/me makes the sign of the cross.

It should be elevated an inch from the back of the case on screws, unless I'm reading you wrong. I have a problem with "No Signal" problem when the computer goes into Standby Mode. What I do to counter this problem is unplug the computer from the Pwr strip, then unplug the pwr strip then turn off the button, then plug the strip back in, then the computer into the strip then turn the strip on... somehow this reestablishes the connection and I can now have a signal.

For every death, there is a birth. A birth which is being sent out tomorrow via UPS :)

By the way, it wasnt a monitor/connection/video problem, it was the mobo, and yes i cleared the cmos and everything. Now ive got another A7N8X-X mobo coming.

I got that same mobo, just ordered, my last one couldnt support my Radeon 9500 Pro. I like it very much!

Im just hoping that the proccessor wasnt harmed in any way.

This may sound dumb but double check your memory sticks and make sure they are locked in place.

Check your motherboard for fried chips, look at the back of it too you might beable to see where it was fried.

And make certain the new heatsink is properly seated/plugged in. And (if you didn't) apply thermal paste. I would also be crossing my fingers for the CPU. Was the computer plugged in when he was lifting the motherboard with a spoon? If it wasn't I don't see how the motherboard could have fried. (Seeing as how there was no power going through it.) If reseating the heatsink doesn't work I'd remount the motherboard, if it's grounding on something it wouldn't come up either. Good luck!
