Ok, I have a FPD1530 Gateway monitor, just recently its been turning black when the monitor is still on, I press the monitor off and press it on and it comes back on but usually goes off again, its really freaking annoying.

any help is appreciated.

Without any other info, we cant even begin to help. Gap in the power cable?
It can be alot of things. A friends G4 refused to do anything in windows (bluescreen, monitor dead, windows errors I have NEVER seen, you name it), but worked perfectly in linux :)

either video drivers/card. Or the monitor is becoming faulty

First of all, make sure every cable is properly connected, also on the monitor. Just double check, please.

It could be your graphicscard is busted, but I think the culprit might be the refreshrate. Do you have another monitor lying around? Use it for testing. If it works it's either the refreshrate or the gateway monitor. Remember that most LCD screens only have a few select refreshrates they can work on(but 60hz always works). Since LCD monitors don't have refreshrates, you won't notice, so don't worry.

You could also try starting your PC in "safe mode" by pressing F8 during boot. It forces the PC to minimum configuration.

hope it helps

Doubt its the refresh. Either the monitor or graphics card should complain, not shut down or BSoD. But of course its a good idea to try another monitor. Even better to try the monitor in another computer.

I don't think its overheating, I have a 9800pro 128 mb and I haven't done anything to it, and it just happens at random, sometimes it will come back on when I press the monitor's power button on and off and sometimes it will keep going off over and over untill it'll finally stop.

I had my refresh rate on 75hrz so I put it down to 60 to see if that helps.

I'm pretty sure I have the catalyst 3.7 drivers and i've checked my coords lots of times.

so thanks for your help, if it does it again I'll tell you.

Try using the new 3.9 cat drivers, might help.

I thought those had a monitor frying bug?

that wouldn't help very much :D

Im running the omega 3.9 drivers, and before that the ATI 3.9 and before that ATI 3.8. No problems whatsoever with my monitor, or graphicscard.. Sapphire Radeon 9800 nonpro.

Well I dont think it would hurt to give it a try, your monitor is already on the fritz and if it frys then you have a good excuse to get a new one :D
