Recently my computer has started to stutter when playing games or videos. My FPS has also dropped. It stutters every few seconds and only pauses for a fraction of a second. It gets pretty annoying.

I have done an AV scan and couldn't find anything. I also have installed or uninstalled anything recently so I have no idea how this happened.

My specs are..

AMD 3500+
MSI Neo2 Platinum
BFG 6800GT
2x74gb raptor drives in raid-0
SB audigy 2 ZS
Enermax 500 watt
Windows XP professional

If your processor supports Hyperthreading, turn it off.

disable any unnecessy backgroup applications, and services

hence, use the link in my signature
and use the "Tweak Guides Tweaking Companion" that is also on his site

skipping, such as a fps (frames per second) issue

Hyperthreading == Intel, Amd 3500+ != Intel.

Hyperthreading equals intel. AMD 3500+ is not an intel. (Therefore no hyperthreading)

Right on link!
infact!
if(Hyperthreading == Intel && Amd3500+ != Intel && Link == Right)
{echo("Right on link!");}
thats PHP...im just bored...

That is also C++ syntax. I restarted my computer and kept it off overnight, the problem seems to have gone away. Maybe I leave it turned on too much.

Stuttering = memory, probably a memory leak with Windows, resolved by restarting.

Not true. I recently asked a similar question, and do not think the words Stuttering and Juddering are reason enough to disregard me, in this thread (largely ignored) http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=90843 and the only thing that resolved it was taking out the soundcard from my older pc to my newer pc and putting a cheap £4 soundcard in the older. And now both work fine.
