hey guys,

i have a comp, i want to upgrade it as cheap as possible for most performance what hsould i upgrade first for cs:s

p4 1.6ghz fsb533
unknown mobo
unknown ram, 2x256 pc100 very slow
AIW 9000PRO for TV purposes

not much of a system, but to play CSS a little better, what should i upgrade first,

i know getting a x800xt series wont be wise for this system, so keep it educated.

Well, does your motherboard support AGP? How much are you willing to spend? Also, it would seriously help if you could provide us with more detailed information. Download a program called EVEREST (Google it), and save it to a file, and upload it here.

mobo is crap, everything is crap, other than running MS word its not worth a penny,

what is the first thing i should upgrade? then the next, then teh next, is what im asking for

You'd probably have to go mobo/cpu/ram all at once, as compatibility will become a restricting issue if you buy and install one at a time.
Gfx, can come last- shd be fine for cs:s as it is.

thanks man good info, i thought it might be soo,

can you recommend a mobo/cpu/ram and gfx the bare minimums for gaming

Dont know what prices you'd be paying in the states or where ever you are, but im sure something like a AMD 64bit 3000+ CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537 , 1gb of dual channel ddr400 RAM (good brand like Corsair, Kingston.etc)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145450 and a PCI-e skt 939 mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136160 shouldn't set you back too much and would be a very good value way to spend your moneys. Quite futureproof (as far as hardware goes, which is never much:))
Gfx, as i said if you're just playing cs:s that vid card you got should be fine, especially when helped along by your fancy new cpu and ram :)

no man to expensive,

im looking for something very very cheap,

lik around 200-400, the cheaper the better,

Ah ok- those 3 would be around 360 all up, so if you feel like splashing out it'd be worth it :)
ANyway- cheaper than the AMD 64 and good for gaming would probably be a pentium 4, just see what suits your price range. Just make sure that the socket numbers of the cpu and mobo match (754/478/939 etc), and that if you're paying for dual channel RAM (which you might want to drop for a cheaper price) make sure it has a mobo that utilises it.
Good luck :)
