Just for your Info. The GameStop I work at had a meeting with the District Manager about all the pre-orders of the 360.
like we have 60 preoders of them at my GameStop where I work but we only got 15.I had to calm alot of people down on the 21st and the 22nd people that already paid are furious. Whcih I understand.and I can assure you at least for EB & people that ordered at GameStop you will get your 360 at latest in Febuary. Its not Eb's foault nor GameStop MS is to blame on this whole dillemma. Unlike when the PS2 came out Sony admitted to have problems but MS is doing this on purpose to make everyone crazy. So just be patient plz and dont harass .The emplyees at EB/GameStop. Thank you hope to post for myself again soon

He messaged me with this just a bit ago and wanted me to post it. Since it's just harmless info (not spam or something stupid) for everybody that's pissed out there I figured I'd do him a favor.

Direct any questions/comments to him not me :P

people should realize... it's JUST A GAME SYSTEM!! it's not the sure for cancer... you will get yours just 3 months later at the VERY latest... I don't think not getting an XBOX 360 by christmas is going to kill anyone...

If I had preordered an xbox2 and had not gotten it due to corporative incompetense I would be mightily pissed. If I were in a senior position in a huge company and realised my division just made a horrible mistake I would have done something to please the customers.

At the very least the people who choose not to cancel their orders should get a couple of games free of charge as compensation.

Personally I don't care about the xbox2. At least not yet. I tried kameo and cod2 at my local el-pusher, and they did not impress at all. Maybe I will consider getting one in the future when there are more solid games and the price has dropped a little.

.bog.

It's not that MS is screwing people over because it gives them a hard on. This is a world wide release. Not to mention every hyped console previous to this had shortages at launch and people got screwed over.

does anyone TRULY think that microsoft, a VERY large company, would even NEED to create hype by stalling shipments of units? Think about it... they LOST money from every xbox sold, and probably not making much from every 360 sold. Most electronics don't get as much profit as you may think (i've seen what most companies pay for laptops and high end electronics) So how is microsoft gaining from holding back this phantom "huge stockpile"? Has anyone seen this warehouse stacked with 360s? Please, post a pic of it, i'd LOVE to see it!

They want to get more units in the hands of people so those people buy games which MS makes money off of. If MS holds back 360s they will be shooting themselves in the foot.

No one said they have slowed shipping, people are saying they have held slowed the manufacturing process which of course would mean no huge stockpiles anywhere but still create a shortage.

I bet M$ is running the facilities as fast as they can. They are running 24/7 7 days a week, and it probably takes a lot more time than you think to go from production -> shipping.

Plus in one week it gets released in Europe and then the week after in Japan, so M$ has to make sure they have enough "launch consoles" for those areas... That is what their "store house" would be for. I'm sure Japan will be getting tons of Xbox360's (probably more than the US) because that is where M$ is really trying to gain a foothold, and having more consoles available for purchase can help. :)

get over the 'm$' thing.

i checked my preorder (x360 premium with cod2, around $750AU) and the release date is definently march 2nd for australia and the eb employees said they will also be expecting shortages.

There is still reason to believe however that they have purposely created a shortage:
Microsoft is "trying to turn this into the Cabbage Patch Kids," The Times quoted Michael Pachter, an analyst with Wedbush Morgan Securities, saying. He said he expected Microsoft to constantly publicize stories of stores that were sold out to inspire press coverage and water-cooler talk of when the next shipment would arrive. "It's brilliant marketing."

Just because you have a world wide launch doesn't mean a thing, they knew what kind of demand there would be yet they either released the console way too early which meant not enough had been made or they purposely slowed manufacturing. Either way Microsoft had to have known a shortage would occur and I suspect they let it happen for the purpose of creating the "Cabbage Patch Kids" effect.
