Haven't had any internet access for about a month, so I've been bored to tears. I still can't play any of my Steam games. If I select any games on my list, it says, "this operation cannot be completed in offline mode".

I used to be able to play HL2 offline, until I got Episode 1. Now none of my Steam games work. What a mistake. Never buying another Steam game.

In other news, I finally sat down and played some more of Condemned: Criminal Origins, and FEAR, and became absorbed in them.

I finished them both. Both defiantly in my top favorite games ever. Extraction Point doesn't run as well as the first. Very Hick-upy on my system. Is still fun though. I'm looking for some mods for these two games. I'd love to do my own mods for them. Anything?

Ahh, yes. FEAR is quite fun to play through. As for mods on it, I'm not sure. I've not checked up on it, and haven't heard of anything. Maybe there are some that I don't know about!

I downloaded all the FEAR mods from [http://fear.filefront.com/files/F.E.A.R./Mods;6400

I'm going to look for more at other sites.

There are a couple that seem like they will rock.

Haven't tried them yet.

I'd like to make some of my own mods. I start with sounds, then particles, then skins/textures, then gameplay.

I really like most everything about the game. it's a great platform to mod on, but everything is nice already. I really would like to play with the particle engine, so I'm about to do a search. I also need something to extract the ARCH files so I can play with those.

I mean it's a great platform to work with for making a huge mod or conversion. The destruction and debris are great for starters. The physics and gameplay is great.

Unfortunately, it looks like there is no way to mod Condemned: Criminal Origins unless you are some sort of hacker.

Bah, SEGA/Monolith/WB games (whoever is to blame for this travesty), this could have been so ****ing killer.

EDIT:

Just found this Singleplayer level for FEAR:

Condemned is an amazing game, I didn't like FEAR however

I've also been playing Resident Evil 4 and am at the graveyard. What an awesome game. I just love it. Man I'd like to be able to look around from a First person view often though. Also annoys me that you open barrels and crates with your knife. Could have been killer to just side kick them open or something. Who destroys a barrel with a combat knife?

Would be sweet if you could mod this game. [assuming you can't] I'd like to make blood stay longer for starters.

I've also got most of the tracks unlocked in GTR 2. The official FIA racing game and game of the year. No simple task mind you. Fantastic game that I play more than any of my other games.

So, that and finishing FEAR and Condemned is pretty much what I've been doing without internet for the past month.

As much as I hate not having internet, there is something about having the world wide web to explore that makes it so I never feel like playing any of my games.

So at least now, I'm getting my money's worth, and finally getting around to playing these great games.

At all? Like, online too?

I don't have internet access anymore, and I don't know when I will. I'm using my Mom's internet while I'm taking care of my grandmom. My mom is having some surgery and should be back any minute.

I've got about another 30 minutes before I log, so I'll talk to you guys .. like next year, unless I can find a new place to live sooner, or come back online again from someone else's computer.

I'm thinking that if I could log into steam and check for updates, that maybe I'd be able to play them offline again, but it's just a hunch, and unfortunately I'm unable to do that.

I was online when I installed Episode 1 obviously, and played it offline a bit (while still plugged into the internet). But since my internet service has stopped, so has my ability to play my Steam games. SUx cuz I have all the discs and the keys and everything. Makes me feel ripped off and treated like a thief. I checked again yesterday and It said my account was in good standing. (why wouldn't it be)

It could possibly be because I bought a new hard drive and moved all my games over to there? (exact hard disk copy) All my other games work fine.

Yeah I'd like to make my own mod for FEAR too, but how? Are the any tools available. Why couldn't all FPS games be as easy to modify as Q4 and Doom3? With all the script and game material available in those easy to access archives.:(

For it seems our dreams have been answered. I've been downloading it for the past hour, and it's almost finished.

FEAR SDK

It has the tools to edit particles, unzip archives, change sounds, textures, models, and other editors.

Just type FEAR SDK into your browser and find a server. I had to try again because the first place was only giving me like 1 kb/sec. I tried a different download site and have been getting full speed.

Thing is, you may need to make sure it's the correct version of the SDK for the version of FEAR. I have FEAR gold which is basically a directors cut that includes Extraction Point and is updated to the latest versions right out of the box. Version 1.08. So I'm downloading SDK 1.08. However, you may need to update FEAR or whatever you need to do.

Seek the Fear mod WIKI if you need more help.

Let me know whatever you come up with. You can PM me as well, so If I'm gone for a month or more, If I check in to this website, I'd be alerted that I have a message.

I want to change the shotgun particle effects and some sound effects right off the bat. Then I'll be changing the looks and behavior of some of the enemies. Especially that electric one that crawls around making himself invisible.
