It got a real slating in Edge - 5/10

They basically said it exagerates on what the original did wrong while overcomplicating the things it did right. The inclusion of QTE doesn't appeal to me.

I'm sure there's something to be found here for fans of the original, but it doesn't look like the sequel I was hoping for. A rent will reveal all

Just wondering why you bass your purchase so heavy on a review? I NEVER listen to reviews. I make my own opinion of the game. I just cant rely on these sites with all these different opinions. Halo 3 for example getting high scores all around while some other great games getting lower scores. Plus do you listen to some of the nonsense some of these reviews say?

Going by reviews you should be buying this game. Did you like the 1st or no? Because if you did i dont see why 1 review should make you stop and not get the game.

Im picking it up today and hope it will live up to the 1st.

I don't. However, what i've read doesn't sound great.

'Gone is the taut directing, the visceral combat and creeping menace. Here, instead, is a more traditionally violent videogame, violent and absurd'.

This is the opposite direction I was hoping the series would take. Combos and QTEs in combat also suggests Comdemned 2 is suffering from sequelitis. It's Chess 2, and now the queen has a lazer. Awesome!

I liked the first and will certainly give this a rent, but expect a wasted opportunity. The worst that can happen is being pleasantly surprised.

At this point in game publishing, you've gotta wonder if this one will be released for the PC...

I'd never buy a game without reading a few reviews ..ok there are a few exceptions (age of conan) but for the most part I dont feel like wasting $60 on a game that for all I know is utter crap ..I just take game reviews with a grain of salt ..it's not exactly journalism so so long as you come in knowing that it's not a big deal

Rent rent rent. Never played the first, but may have to just rent them both in order to speak half intelligently about either. I would like to be really scared though, so actually I may just pick up Fatal Frame II for the PS2. More worthwhile (according to the reviews at least).

Hmm... can't say I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. I'll give it a try when and if it is released for the PC, until then I'll replay the first one...

High-larious. Because your system of basing your purchases on the PR hype and previews instead is a much better system ... :|
Reviews are an extremely useful benchmark, especially when reviewed across a spectrum of sources like metacritic

Ya and id say im pretty good at picking my games. Id say a good 95% of the games i have are well worth it.
