Steam's got this way of managing its files by compressing them into .gcf files, which you can open with GCFScape.

Knowing this, you can open any .gcf file, except the condition zero.gcf and condition zero models.gcf. Anyone know why I can open any other gcf but not the CS:CZ gcfs?

I get the error that Steam is running/that file is currently in use, but Steam isn't running and the file isn't currently in use :| lol

Because it's Steam's first retail product. They don't want you ripping everything out of the GCF.. this is my guess, anyway

Edit: I just tried, I can open both of those with GCFScape. Is Steam running? If so, close it.

Edit 2: ah, just read the last part of your message.. ctrl alt delete and check to make sure steam.exe isn't still running, regardless

hm... strange. steam.exe isn't running, i'm going to restart and check it out though, i should be able to open the files. Thanks

Make sure you're running the latest version of GCFScape.

Valve changed the GCF layout a few times meaning older versions couldn't access the gcf.

Thanks! I got that fixed. Now I'm having another problem...

When I play CS, the only player models for the CTs are GIGNs and for the Ts there's only the Leet guy... do you know how I can fix this?

Sorry to be such a nuisance... I'd get this fixed myself, but since Steam appeared I don't know how to mess around to get things fixed...
