Condoms with teeth fight rape in Africa

'Bout time someone came up with an idea like this.

These sorts of things have been around for awhile now.

This isn't going to save the girl even if theres only one dude. A person violent enough to rape someone isn't going to be pleased when he sticks his dick into that. Instead of rape it will be murder.

This has been posted already a while ago, I think.

Yep. This will turn more rapes into murders... or even more incredibly aggravated rapes and assaults.

Once the rapists know this is out there, whether from the news or word of mouth or whatever, they will begin checking their victims. It won't take much to check... and it won't take much to remove either, since the woman is supposed to be able to remove it and stuff.

And once they find it... who knows what they're capable of doing.

Yeah, but it's the fact that they're being handed out at the world cup.

Depressingly possible.... but then the knowledge of these things about might hopefully put some guys off, hopefully... Also, if a guy tries it, gets this thing latched onto his cock, then kills the girl, he's going to have a murder charge too because as said, he'll need medical attention to get it off, the authorities will be noted and if it's got the DNA of a girl recently found dead then he's proven guilty. Quite well thought out really.
Although being the way, loopholes will likely be found =/...

He'd need more than medical attention, but I do agree the knowledge of these things may deter some people, but most crack heads won't even pay attention to it and continue raping away anyway.

What if his penis starts bleeding so bad that he bleeds to death?

Hopefully if enough people start using devices like these, they will serve as a deterrent. Of course there is the risk of further violence upon the victim, but I believe many people are willing to take that risk. The fact that it can be used for forensic purposes makes it a valuable tool. But probably the most important thing about it is protection from STDs, given their HIV infection rate. That alone makes it worth any risk, in my opinion.

Rape is so commonplace in South Africa, to many it's not even seen as a violent crime. If people are willing to resort to these extremes to protect themselves, I'm fully supportive.

Wikipedia's rape statistics on South Africa, in case anyone's interested:
According to a survey for the period 1998–2000 compiled by the United Nations, South Africa was ranked first for rapes per capita.[8] One in three of the 4,000 women questioned by the Community of Information, Empowerment and Transparency said they had been raped in the past year.[9] More than 25 per cent of South African men questioned in a survey published by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in June 2009 admitted to raping someone; of those, nearly half said they had raped more than one person.[10][11] Three out of four who admitted rape attacked for the first time during their teens.[10]

South Africa has the highest incidences of child and baby rape in the world.[12]

I remember reading this in the college computer lab around 2006...

Am I the only one who thinks a rapist's bloody dick inside your vagina might not be the best way to stop a rape? Just make a vaginal mouse trap or something that will hurt but won't cause bleeding.

You're not the only one at all.

Equipment women with tasers may be a better option.

Nah because that would lead to many innocent women going to prison for murder, you'd need an option of incapacitating them without killing them, then its self-defence.

I would think that in a place with such high HIV rates, that would be a major design concern. According to the site FAQ, there is little risk of blood coming in contact with the victim.

"There will be blood all over the show and blood is the carrier of aids."

I am aware that blood is one of the carriers. The penis will be encapsulated and the tines are so small there will hardly be blood that can spill because it is in a capsule.

Though the device causes great distress, it does not draw blood, Ehlers says, which is crucial in areas where HIV/AIDS rates are high. A man must seek medical attention to have the Rape-aXe removed. Until then, he cannot urinate, essentially tagging him until he gets to a hospital, she explains. Ehlers says she consulted an engineer, gynecologist and psychologist on the design.

it seems like every year this topic comes up again (everywhere). I have never understood these things. A women being raped is not in control of the situation, and something you don't want to do when you're being dominated by a rapist is attach a spiked chinese dick-trap on his penis. What do they think he's going to do? "Ah, shit, now I can't rape you....I guess you can just go home them..."

NO! He's going to ****ing kill her!

In the UK, perhaps. In the US, it's not murder if it is done to protect the life of yourself or another person. We also dont let injuried thieves sue the home owners they were trying to kill.

There is potential for abuse. What if a woman asks a man to have sex with her while wearing it, then accuses him of rape and points to the condom as proof.

Edit: Could also create a black market for removal doctors who don't contact the authorities.

Well it says "tears penises up" in the description so I'm assuming it does draw blood.

It does a lot of damage and the idea of it is sort of dramaticized, but it doesn't literally "tear anything up." Over the years, this thing has been brought up so many times, it's getting scary how much research I've done on the stupid thing.

The more I see these devices the more my dick cringes. Let's just stop posting them.
