What do you put in to it make it applicable for half life 2

We do not know yet as we don't have the game. If this is regarding the leaked code then it will not be discussed.

Re

OK so i just put the configureation as Half life 2 and leave it as that?

Well I'm not sure what you are asking exactly, but to get hammer to work with Hl2 you would need to new (as yet unreleased) version which has all the updated stuff to make it work.

You'll have to wait for the full version of Hammer for HL2, and it's .fgd.

We do not condone use of the Stolen Files in any way shape or form.

Re

I have not used stolen codes i am not a THEIF!!! Are you impling that? If so i do not have stolen codes i was just asking since in order to get the gemometry you must use hammer and not XSI so how would i creat the map so i hust put in "half-life 2" in configureation and add my own textures for my map and i don't do ANYTHING ELSE! or do i just configure it for half life that is my question so answer it!!

Alright, no one is accusing you. What I was saying though is that since we don't yet have hl2 or the hl2 version of hammer we don't know.

However, i would suspect that you set it up very much like you would set up the original halflife. So you would put in configurations the same way you would do for halflife but use halflife2 instead.

if you are planning to port it to HL2 in the future you dont have to make any changes,, just go about mapping it like you would an HL2 map,, of course you can have a way higher poly count etc....

Do you guys think that it's possible to simply recompile your old maps into the new editor without further editing?

I think valve said they were going to make it very easy to port over old maps. The only thing that may need changing would be textures and entities.

yeah, aparently there will be an import feature to bring you're rmf's in then you can save them as vmf's (HL2 format)

thats cool, i like a lot of the old maps.

I've heard it's slightly different but you can change the scale of the map by changing it within Hammer. I think Gordon is a little bigger but I don't think it would need a complete map redesign to accommodate this change.

Im not sure if its just that Gordon is bigger, but the units in hl2's hammer can be interpreted into inches(or some real world measurement).

Hammer2 will allow the map maker to decide the scale of each unit. I think it is safe to assume it will default to the same scale as Hammer.
