Need to upgrade an old system that I am currently using for my home theater computer. It's been a while since I put a system together and with all the new processors out these days I want to be sure I got the right configuration. This is the motherboard I chose:

Keep in mind that I am trying to keep everything as cheap as possible, my only goal with this system is to be able to watch HD video on my TV (I already have a 8600GT video card). Will this CPU work on this motherboard?

looks like they are both compatible but i'd wait for a few more "go-aheads" before purchasing.

If anybody looked closely at the combo deal I posted did they see it say that it included a heatsink? I swear it said it did the day I bought it, that was the main reason I purchased this instead of getting everything seperate with a better mobo. Now their web site says it doesn't include one and that's how my package today came. Not sure if I was seeing things or if they pulled a fast one on me and changed the web site when someone else called them on it. The CPU they sent me is OEM but on the OEM box it actually says it includes the fan.

I had a hell of a time finding heatsinks locally and ended up finding a IT shop that had some used ones sitting around. Got one of those for $20 so I can put it together today but I don't think it's big enough for a 95W CPU, Im hoping the bios will let me monitor the temperature when I turn it on later. I'm really pissed right now.

Wow, they sell you a complete system, but didn't give you a heat sink for the CPU? HOw much does that aluminum cost, man that can't just add a dollar to the cost of the system.

Man, that is some dirty shit. I will never buy from TigerDirect after hearing that. So you know, they saved a dollar, or no, not really.

Well heatsinks are a little more expensive than a dollar, cheaper ones will run you around $20 retail. And since it is a barebone system they have every right not to include the heatsink/fan if they point that out. But I swear I read that it included it as this was the main reason I bought this combo. I could be crazy, maybe I didn't have my coffee that morning. But even the OEM box for the CPU (which is a small package) says it includes a fan.

I'll see how this shitty heatsink works, I'm hoping it will hold me over until a new one comes in. Hopefully I am not making a $100 mistake by using this heatsink in the short-term.
