OK so the 8800GT has just come out and its the daddy nVidia card (price/performance wise)

I heard nVidia are releasing a new batch later this month or in December. Are these going to be like the 9xxx series? i dont know if I should get a 8800GT or wait for these new ones

no more cards are going to be released this year as far as i know. ive heard that there could be something coming in February.

cool think il get an 8800GT then, **** Crysis they shud have released that when hardware can run it

You don't need an 8800 to run Crysis. My Radeon 7950 runs it fine.

I disagree, yes it will run on current hardware but it looks sh1t. To get the most out of the game we need to jump to Q1 2008

mid novemeber for the revised GTS but no new cards ...however there's speculation of a the smaller die coming to the GTX, meaning it's speed will probably be bumped up as it doesnt make sense to buy a gtx at this point in time

Umm, I'm running it just fine on an 8800GTS, looks great too.

o right i forgot about the revised gts

yes a few things were tweaked to put it between the GT and the GTX

But that means that all 3 of those cards are going to be performing fairly close to each other. Go for the cheaper (8800GT) for value. It's got 512MB memory too so nothing to kick yourself later for.

Amazing. I didn't think there was much room between GT and GTX.

So all these cards (GTS) will be called back? Or retailers will send their stock back for tweaking?

Hmmm interesting, I've completed my new build I'm just holding off buying a new card. I was a click away from buying the GTX last week until the slim GT came out, now I'm reconsidering. If a similar GTX is released (single slot) I'll snap it up VERY quickly. Do you have any more information on it?

not sure what they'll do with the gtx but they'd better do something soon; there's a GT that scores better than a GTX in 3dMark06:

no, the older GTS are discontinued to be replaced with the revision ..at the same price point ..marginally better performance for > $100 not worth it

I didn't know they did the SSC version, they only have the SC version on Overclockers right now (where I'm getting all my stuff from). Hopefully that version will appear soon too, let us know on the stability and heat it generates too!

I would wait for ATIs new range, but my mobo is only SLI compatible and I've got it with me already, so I really want to have that option for the future, so I'll be sticking with Nvidia.

I ordered my SSC at around midnight on launch day (this past monday) ...they hadnt even come out yet but they're slowly starting to get to retailers ..they just dont last long

you could order from here (they ship to US)

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26823&vpn=512-P3-N806-A1&manufacture=eVGA

they dont have stock but if you order they'll ship once it comes in, it wasnt in stock when I ordered either and in less than a week they had shipped some of them ...or just wait a few weeks, the 8800gt will go down in price and will be available

apparently all the 8800gt makers are scrambling to fill orders cuz of huge demand

So I've read. Apparently BFG have had to recall their versions with static problems caused in the production process, and EVGA have add problems distributing and warehouses are empty across the board. To be fair, it's not been that long since release so there's no need to get frustrated. I'm hoping that the SSC version will become more widespread over time.

Thanks for the link though mate, I'm not sure I've got the courage to get it from overseas though. I'm ordering a new Monitor simultaneously so want to get everything delivered together rather than paying for multiple P&P D:

EDIT: Or I could stop being a big baby, buy the normal version and OC it myself, I'm just being lazy heh...

ya but you'll need a better fan, for the added price you could just get a pre-overclocked card

oh and for some odd reason i thought you lived in the US, sorry :)

I am VERY afraid of overclocking cards. Even if it's old like, FX 5200 D:
I heard too many people talking about horrible things happening to your card if you overclock it. I know it's not true... D:
