“The banks run the place,” Mr. Peterson said. “I will tell you what the problem is — they give three times more money than the next biggest group. It’s huge the amount of money they put into politics.”

Interesting that politicians are starting to speak out about it. Lobbying funds usually don't come into the discussions of politics, yet they define who gets to do what.

If their largest benefactors are the FED and other banks, then they must have a heavey influence on policy making, ensuring they get a bang for their buck so to speak. In which case Petersons comments are addressing the root of the corruption in the system.

Anyway first thread post in a while! discuss

This is news?

Welcome to reality guys. Ignoring all the conspiracy crap, the rich and powerful always want more wealth and power. They always have, and always will.

oh...hai there clarky.

i think it's no surprise everything is influenced by rich and powerful people. i'm sure most would agree...i mean come on, if you were rich and powerful wouldn't you use that for your own benefit.

and besides...what's up with obama taking millions of dollars from lobbyists for his campaign. you think he's just gonna show them the finger now?

Yeah, I'm not surprised any bit.

The government has always been made up of and influenced by the wealthy, and it probably will be for a very long time.

All five companies are members of the CDS Dealers Consortium, the lobbying group formed in November. Lobbying records show that the group has paid Mr. Rosen, the Cleary Gottlieb partner, $430,000 for four months’ work. Mr. Rosen declined to comment, a spokeswoman said, citing “client sensitivities.”

hey...i want to be a ****ing lobbyist too...400 thousand in four months...you have to be ****ing kidding me.
