a network?

The trick is, how do you connect a printer on a network but also being able to use it on a Wireless Network. I don't know if it is possible, but I would like to be able to print from my wireless computer. Thanks for the help guys.

i have tried to do this in the past, but it wasn't working properly. I think you would have to configure the settings each time you switch on the pc which the printer is connected to (i think, might be wrong).

you have to make sure that each computer are sharing the same name over the network, or atleast thats what i think i had to do for my brothers....like his had a different name for the actual folder to the shared network but it shared the same name for the printer...confusing

I am able to see my sister's laptops folder, but it doesn't have any other folder. Help.

Service pack 2 makes it much easier to do this, make sure you have it. Make sure that your workgroup name is the same. Then use the wireless network setup utility. Wireless shouldn't be a problem.

It is possible to use a printer over a wireless network. Make sure you are both on the same Workgroup. Try going to, Run...then type in "\\nameofcomputerwithprinter" (w/o quotes)...and OK. A window should pop up with the contents of what is shared on the computer with the shared printer.

If it doesn't and you get an error, it could be that your firewall (if you have one) is preventing you from using the windows network. If that is the case, shut the firewall down (temporarily), type what I wrote above, and it should work then and when you try to use the printer, it'll prompt you to install drivers. If it still doesn't work, then I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Also, about SP2. Though service pack 2 would make this a lot easier, take into mind that there have been a lot of problems associated with SP2. If you do decide to install SP2, don't forget to back up your files.
