Connecting blocks?

Is there a way to connect to blocks? Basically just make a few blocks and tie them together, not so much for the game, I can do that with parents. But now all the blocks are cubes, I want to do like an F or whatever. Like take three blocks and connect them, so they all move together.

Select all the blocks and press ctrl+g to group them.

to put that on a silverspoon:
Click a cube then hold CTRL down while u click on some other cube. Then when u have marked all the cubes u want to group, press CTRL+g
