Connection problems

hi, i installed half life on my laptop that share the same connection as my pc and it worked fine. now i'm trying to install it on my pc and it's not able to connect to the steam server to create a new account. and i keep getting winsock error 10054, connection reset by peer. does anyone know what i can do to make it work? thanks

Are you sure all the correct ports are forwarded?
