I seriously don't get this. One day after i installed Symantec Antivirus (not sure if the two events are connected) I lost part of the internet connection to the computer I'm currently on (will give specs if asked to). I can't play anything online, except for Trackmania Nations, which gives me this error;

It should be noted that I have made no firewall changes since way before the error (Windows Firewall).

Other games don't connect at all. A Steam connection test shows nothing. This computer is wired directly to a Netgear router, meaning I don't use wireless. All other computers in the house use wireless and can connect.
This is about as much information as I have, and I can't see anything wrong myself. Help?

It sounds like a firewall problem, since you are able to browse the internet.

Try giving an exception to allow those games the best you can.

Are you sure you just installed anti-virus and not some extra stuff (like norton personal firewall..trial?)

I'll try to play them without the firewall on at all for a minute, just for the sake of testing.

EDIT: Doesn't work. And it's the only firewall I have, except for the one built into the router - but that shouldn't be the problem, as the other computers can connect fine.

Or could it?

Have you tried also shutting down Norton AV? I think it can prevent programs from having access if it doesn't trust it.

I don't use Norton. But i'll try deactivating Symantec to see if it's the problem.

EDIT: No, nothing changed.

Couldn't it be in your router? Your router doubles as a firewall as well, I often have to open ports on my router for certain programs. And it does sound like a problem of closed ports.

I'll try to bypass the router and connect my computer directly to the jack, then. And the router has been causing problems earlier, as I couldn't play Guild Wars with it on for a while. The problems mysteriously solved themselves though.

EDIT: Still not working after bypass operation.

Still having problems, after desperately thinking my ATI drivers could be causing it I updated them perfectly. Didn't help though (I wasn't really expecting anything to change). I'm really not seeing the problem here.
