Ok so when I try and play CS:S (well, any multi-player game) , servers usually ping at anywhere between 20-40. When I try to join the game the ping goes up to 2000 and wont join. Anyone got any ideas on this?

I have the same problem as above. Anyone have any ideas?

any firewalls running on your system that could be intercepting the packets?

What other games has this occured on? Have you tried any non-steam games? This sounds familiar.. i think I saw this post on the steam forums once, I'll try and find that.

Non-Steam games (UT 2004) are working ok. I am runnng a router that I will check to see if the following ports are open per another thread I read.

UDP 1200 (used for friends service)
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27020 to 27050
