Connectivity Problems!!!!!!help!!!!!

I recently just reformatted and i reinstalled Steam. All my internet applications work fine except Steam. The problem is that when i play an online multiplayer game all the servers on the selection screen are running at 1000 ping! I can still connect but then i notice that i am at 1000 ping and everyone else is fine!!! What do i do?


I am not running any other internet applications while i use steam and my specs are:

1 gig of RAM
3.4 GHz intel 4
RADEON X600 graphics card

Do you have a firewall or router?

if its a router then someone on your network could be using up all the bandwidth.

make sure you have steam connection set to um... i think mine is like "T3 or higher" it might be that.

My connection speed is set to the right one and my router is not causing the problem. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!

I have the same problem when noone is using the other computer, I did not ignore your post.
