Hi, at the moment im running a Nvidia MX 400 graphics card and im considering upgrading to a higher quality card. Which is the best one that i can literly just plug into the back of the computer, pop in a driver and away? Or isnt it that simple anymore?

Is it worth upgrading these as welll or would the system become needlessly top heavy?
756 mb Ram
1.2 Ghz processor
I play fps a lot besides other genres, so any ideas?

You're gonna wanna upgrade the CPU (and therefore, at least most likely, motherboard and memory) as well. Anything like an FX 5900 or Radeon 9800 would create a bottleneck with the rest of your PC. The FX 5900 is great for it's price, and the 9800 Pro is dropping in price, so those are good options (besides the 9600 Pro, which is great for its price as well), and A good processor to look at would be the Athlon XP 2500+, with a decent motherboard and RAM the total upgrade with a 5900 would likely be around $350... And all of that is assuming you're ready to replace the motherboard and CPU.

Considering the the rest, a 9600Pro/XT would be fitting and is fairly cheap... It would really be a waste with a 9800XT on that, although better is always better :)

Thanks guys, so its best to save a bit more and upgrade the whole lot. Ill do that

thanks again for replying

Don't buy a 9800XT, it's only a slight overclock of the 9800 Pro, and don't buy a 9800 Pro becuase you can softmod and 9800SE into a 9800 Pro :D

My two cents :D

I'd upgrade to either a Radeon 9600 XT or 9800 Pro

I've heard some issues with softmodding some 9800 SEs to Pros, like some brands it's much more difficult to do with than others. So if you're going that route make sure to do some research first on which ones have the best OC options.

Cool. :) wish i could afford one. The price to performance ratio just isnt good enough to make that big of a dent in my moms credit card :p
