In a multiplayer game, how can I ignite myself on fire through the console?

To do this you need to turn on cheats. You cannot turn on cheats unless you are the host so this will not work if you are playing on a random internet server:
Go to options -> keyboard -> advanced and click the box that says enable developer console.
To open the console press the button below Esc on your keyboard. It is usually either ¬ or ~
Type into the console (without quotes) "sv_cheats 1" and hit enter. This turns on cheats.
Type into the console "ent_fire !player ignite" to light yourself on fire. To ignite any object you are pointing at replace "!player" with "!picker" and to light all players on fire just type "player" instead of "!player".
You can kill yourself without cheats on though (which means you can do it in any game, not just ones where you are the host). To do this just type "kill" into the console. You can also type "explode" in instead which makes you explode.
