Constant corruption of files

Half the files I download are constantly becoming corrupt, what the hell? I have everything updated and no viruses (I scan every day from now on), what could possibly have gone wrong?

I seemed to fix it by turning off the nvidia motherboard firewall and turning on the default windows one. Weird but okay.
