Consufed about which video card...

im confused about all this tech stuff.. some one plz help me.!!

All i want to do it run HL2 on medium.. i got an old computer so i want to know which video card would best suit my cause.

My computer specs..
Genuin Intel Processor 1.8Mhz
40gig HD
256 RD memory (soon upgrading to 512)

Im not prepared to spend a fortune on a card so maybe 9600? Need more specs?

A 9600 Pro would run HL2 great on medium. 1024x768 should be playable and 800x600 would run very well on your system. You would get all of those neat DX9 effects as well.
9600XT is a little ahead of the Pro.

Also, don't put money into a 9600 256MB card though, it would be better spend on a 9600XT 128MB.

The 512MB memory for your system will help a lot as well.
