Do you think Valve should continue with these class updates, disabling and enabling new abilities, or just decide to scrap it all and go back to the original 9 classes with their original weapons.

With each of the updates Valve see a huge increase in TF2 sales, by providing a new experience where by word of mouth other people want to join the hype bandwagon of the update.

By doing this a few times they are bringing in massively increased sales after initial launch of the OB. Although the content seems free, there is massive financial gain from this model but who cares? We benefit too!

So no, they won't stop until you grandparents and your pet dog owns a copy of TF2. Updates are major winners.

Ahahaha. Yeah, they're just going to remove all the content that they've worked on for the past year.

Many of the new features are some that we'll have a hard living without. And seriously, why would you remove stuff like better medic UI and cp_badlands?

Yeah, let's just bring the medic back to square one, when he was half as useful and nobody used him.

That was the class pack which started all of this too. I think they should continue, not just with single class packs, but release more updates for classes in the future. That way they can actually try and justify the stupid 'Level # Lunchbox' type thing.

Honestly, food/drink should only be used in a release once. Food fits the heavy, but "Bonk Cola" doesn't really fit the scout. I demand more creativeness from Valve!

Edit:

Yes, they should continue.

Continue. This question is stupid, why would they want to scrap all of their hard work?

I would love to have my dog playing TF2.

Not that I have a dog.

People keep bitching about the updates, but why doesn't someone just make a Team Fortess 2: Classic mod? That was people who want to can enjoy the updates and everyone else can go back to level 1 dispensors and explode on contact demo grenades.

Team Fortress 2: Classic

Hilarious. Another name for that is called the 360 version of TF2. (Note I play the 360 version, so nobody touch me! You might get my virus)

Well 360 is set to recieve all the updates that PC has recieved pretty soon, PS3 is the one that will remain forever untouched.

...

I agree with rionhare, it's odd that I've heard nothing of any one working on such a mod.

The updates add some more variety to the game. I like them.

After the scout update, I think some things should be rolled back. They'll rescue it, though. I know they will. They're Valve. They're allowed to do shit and disappointing updates on the odd occasion.

Ok ok i see the problem here, i had meant simply the class updates, not the actual gameplay issues. I know some people continue to bitch about how over or underpowered new weapons or abilities are, my question is would you rather just scrap all that (keeping the actual gameplay issues and glitches, scrapping in class updates) and keep it as is.

Wait, so just the class updates? Um, no, that's a still completely ****ing ridiculous proposal.

The only class update I have an issue with is the scout update. I wouldn't sacrifice the improvements to the other classes in many respects for that screw up.

The Sandman is the only thing that is a serious issue, I think. Bonk and FAN are quite good as they are imo.

Bonk was certainly a good idea. For the most part. I'll probably get used to the Force-a-Nature. I don't particularly like it. The sandman is just messed up.

But then the update matched the video.

I have been a fan of the updates. My only gripe is the half damage after stunning ADDED with the close range nerf. It makes it extremely hard to take down Heavies now....but its probably more balanced now :(

FAN needs a little boost imho, maybe up the damage to normal scattergun levels - the clip size and the reload time is limiting enough, I think.

Yes, because valve is just totally gonna get rid of everything they spent ages on working on just for a few whiners...

It does less damage...?

My only gripe is how long it takes me to get the unlocks.

It doesn't make a big difference anyway...the only new weapons I make much use of are the Blutsauger, the flare gun, and the Sandvich. I don't play Scout much, although from what I've seen I prefer the FAN to the scattergun, and I don't like the Sandman much despite how effective people say it is.

It's not that effective anymore. Especially the high minimum range is punishing. It used to be by far the strongest weapon in the game.

I see, good to know.

And although I said removing the new weapons wouldn't make a big difference, I'm still for keeping them...removing them would be pointless and make the last year a waste of effort for Valve. I'm definitely for keeping all the balance updates, new maps/gamemodes, etc. since TF2 was first released.

Pretty sure it does 80% less damage per bullet, but it has 20% more bullets per shot.
Not quite, each bullet does 80% of normal Scattergun bullet damage. With it firing 20% more bullets the end result that the FAN does 96% of the damage that the standard Scatter does (0.8 damage x 1.2 bullets = 0.96 Scattergun damage).

I like the maps, not the class changes.

That's silly. You're saying a point blank range from a FAN gives less damage than a point blank range of a Scattergun?

Pah.
