Perfect Dark! Best co-op game in the history of co-op games

Oh.. lol, woops, my bad, I just read cheetarah's reply and made a wild assumption that it was any game that was co-op.. /me hides in shame

hm I really wish they put coop in games like return to castle wolfenstein or call of duty

how is co-op handled when you need to change maps, like in single player, or is it just limited to single maps only like regular multiplayer is?

That depends on the game. If you consider the two games I mentioned above:

In Sven Co-op it's the first player reaching the "end of the map", who triggers the map-change. That can lead to situations where you're in an intense battle and the map is abruptly changed to another one. :hmph:

In Natural Selection it's when the game's goal (cut off the opposing team from their resources and kill everyone) is met.

how are the other players handled, do they appear around the first player to change to a new map, or just places around the map or relative positions.. eg: if you played the first few maps of HL1 but were playing co-op, what would happen to the other guys, would the slowest forever be popping to new locations in an unrealistic way, or could the map change be halted until all players go to the exit so the map can load the new one, then they all appear where they should be, like if you were playing single player and you dont magically jump about a map when it loads a new one in

A good game for co-op is Bf1942...I know a lot of people say its crappy but if you work together it can be a really great game to play.

The way sven coop works. Yes, the slowest player will forever be popping to new locations in an unrealistic way. Its a pain sometimes but it would be difficult to work it any other way. When a new map loads, you start at a preset start location; The makers normally place about 10 or something, so if there are any more players than that, you have a small preblem with telefragging at the start.

Do my eyes deceive me? Is this the nietzsche posting in the off topic forums?

hmm what I had in mind just couldn't work then, bugger that would have been neat too :( .. oh well the storyline fit single player better anyway so im cool with that, makes it a harder game too ;)

thanks Farrowlesparrow

I think by co-op he means cooperative play through SP missions, not MP games that allow for organized gameplay.

In that case, Hidden and Dangerous. Thats a great game for Coop in single player missions. You get a four man team and when you play with other people, they just take over one of the team.

Unfortunately i think that H&D2 wont have that feature. Kinda annoying really...

yeah, so you could play the same game either alone or as a team

I wish more PC games incorporated coop play. Serious Sam did it, and it was a lot of fun (the one time I did it). It seems to be used too little when coop experiences could be so much more fun - especially with the growing use of voice chat in games.
