Some of my player models were corrupt in the first level. I'll fix it after steam settles down.

Check these screenshots out, kinda crazy! :E

how do you fix it?

uhmm.... I don't know know for sure but I think maybe I need some more data from steam possibly. Luckily, like you said, it was only at the beginning. I don't want to touch anything since my hl2 is actually working at the moment! :naughty:

Just to let you know that people had the same problem with CS:S and it turned out it was their graphics card overheating. Before you re download hl2 (which takes ages) make sure that overheating isn't the problem.;)

If I'm not mistaking, that's usually a driver-game compatiblity problem... Those are like tearing you get from the ATI cards sometimes... More than likey you'll need to experiment with video drivers.... I could be wrong....

Instead of re-dling the whole thing couldn't they just delete the player models? Wont they download again automatically?

That definitely makes sense as well. I'll mess with my drivers after steam isn't so stressed out. Thanks!

Maybe, there are 2 files though. source models 460mb and hl2 content 868mb

Could be in either. Don't know 100%. Anyone?

Yeah that looks like something you would get if you overclocked your video card too high.... If you are overclocking turn down the clocks... If you aren't make sure the fan on the card is still spinnin...

The reason I suspected corrupt models is that I checked the console and it had a dozen or so of the following lines:

Bad data found in model "male_01_reference.smd" (bad bone weights)

(Edit: checked console for exact wording)
