Corrupt Water (Warping textures)

I decided to play on Water Hazard after installing forceware 90 drivers, and now I have warping ground textures in the water that move towards me as I drive up to them, also when I crouch in the water, some textures just become one shade of a brown/black colour...

I used drivercleaner pro prior to installing the new forcewares...

in trying to correct this problem, i tried a different set of forceware 90's, the ones which i have currently installed, i've reverted back to XTreme-G 84.37.v2 drivers that worked fine before, i reinstalled half-life 2 and directx 9.0c, i've reinstalled xp2 and still had the problem in sp1, had my gfx card on defaults and half-life 2 on defaults, and nothing has helped... (90's not installed anymore)

it reminds me of what happend when I forced directx 9 mode with my old 5600FX card with 3d-analyze...

it's all a bit rather strange, I hope someone has had this problem and solved it... :dozey:

NOTE: I'll try setting my ram to default timings as a last resort and update this to reflect the result, although it's 466mhz RAM on a 400mhz board running @ 400mhz so it should be fine anyways... seeing as it wasn't a problem before hand...

Are pictures really necessary? I've explained the problem better if you look :)

righty... here's the update...

uninstalled 92.91's, booted into safe mode, ran drivercleaner, installed 84.21's... it then occured to me that with it possibly been a memory leak, i ensured that i have closed the RX55 memory register, as this had solved my call of duty 2 BSOD problem a while back...

i then noticed a directx 9.0c update (october) so I then installed that...

rebooted, ran half-life 2 and i still have the problem... here's screenshots this time...

firstly 2xAA+4xAF...

and here's no AA+AF...

all a rather bit strange isn't it :) one improvement though, the warping ground textures are now slightly transparent and not solid... lol :) :)

NOTE: think it's worth defaulting my ram timings?

Update...

After adding -autoconfig to the launch options... the problem went away, and then found that... (you take the command out afterwards by the way)

matt_clipz "1" // Disables non visible object rendering...

I think this is the offending article in question, sure sounds like it... no actually, it is... :)

All a bit strange that a reinstall didn't sort it out... and the fact it only happened after the first installation of forceware 90's...

I'm back to how I normally have things and my usual overclock settings... s'all good... even have fastwrites enabled and that works fine... amazing..!

There you have it folks problem solved :) :)
