Ok. I've installed the game and everything and created an account with steam and I just saw the purchase button. This freaked me out and I just need to know: Does it cost just to play Half Life 2 single player?

I bought HL2 at Game and Ive installed it and everything. I just need to know what to do.

Then it should be available to play on your Steam Games list. You can purchase a multitude of other games on Steam, which is why there is a Purchase button.

Ok.Thanks. I'll go mess around to see if I can start playing.

While you're in the Steam browser, click on the "My Games" tab, and Half-Life 2 should be somewhere on the list. It may be greyed out - that just means it needs to patch/update, and it might have to download some stuff.

Ok. I must of done something wrong here. I double click on HL2 and it goes to the store tab...Sorry if I'm causing annoyance here.

Did you follow all the instructions and activate the game?

You may need to click "Activate a product on Steam..." and then type in your CDKEY.

Ok Thanks I didnt see the activation code. Its activating as we speak.

Enjoy :) I'm completely jealous of you for being able to experience Half-Life 2 for the first time. I wish I could again :D

Yeah, the first time's is extremely important for HL2. Remember; don't rush it, and play on Hard (for more fun).

Have fun playing it.

Also, does it cost to play online like it does with some games. Because I have HL Deathmatch and I want to know please?

Lolz, no. It costs to buy games to play online but if you already have them you should be set!

Err - there's HEAPS of games you have to buy, AND pay a monthly fee to play online. So what you said is not quite right at all. If you have any HALF-LIFE based Deathmatch games, THEY are free to play online.

Whoops. Over Steam, i meant.

No problem. Just making sure the right info is being given.
