Could Valve make a "Tougher Hack Scanner?"

I know Vac works ok and can nail people once its said and done but the truth is their will always be hacks. Seeing as their is a wallhack already for the CSS beta which i dont think is protected by vac yet but still its possible.

Could valve make a very invasive hack scanner to the point where you have to Tell valve you want them to scan your pc for malicous files running for or with hl2 or your video card? And only use drivers authenticated by valve?

Im talking microsoft style in your house, makeing your dvd player call the manufactureing time scanner for hl2.

This being only a option and you still haveing the option to play on a server that doesnt require it. Alot of people are haveing loads of fun playing the CSS beta at the cafes but like what happend with CS if their are cheats it ruins the game. Really i dont see what they get out of makeing cheats for the game as it really only hurts the people trying to have a good time.

Oh ya, didnt valve say they were going to start sueing the hosters/developers of such things?

The nice thing about vac isn't that hacks can't be made. It's that you're banned from using your CDKey for a full year if you are caught. So yeah, you can hack, but you can also get caught and lose $50.

I really HOPE Valve makes a batter hack scanner, becase lately I've seen a lot of blatant hacking (In CS anyway).

if your worried about hacks, just play on cheating death only servers, ive never had a problem there in my experience (i think)

Can't be that hard to scan a computer when someone gets on a server for a hack..I mean, they already are scanning 10,000,000,000,000+ computers to see if they have Condition Zero..how hard could it be to check for hacks?

The problem with hacks is that for every counter measure that Valve produces, the hacking community comes up with two new ways to circumvent those protections.

What valve tries to do is make it hard for an 'average' user to hack. Also, the (realistic) possibility of being caught would be enough to put a lot of people off. If valve keeps updating the anti-cheat system then hopefully new hacks will only work for a few days/weeks, which is a plus.

I doubt valve will have scan your hard disk for hacks, for 2 main reasons: 1 it's an in invasion of privicy, 2 it'd be way too time consuming. Think about how long it takes to do a virus scan. It'd be that kind of length of time to wait.... do you really want to wait that long every time you connect. Plus, people would just get round it anyhow. IMO a memory scan is enough.

microsoft and valve have no right to scan my computer even if all the content on it is legit.. its an invasion of privacy...

however; every one in the USA is screwed cause of the patriots act. which lets valve a loop hole to do what you suggest...

hacking is bad. stealing is bad.. but companies inside your computer and monitering your moves is worse..

yeah, I agree. However, Valve is trying to limit the "script kiddies" so to speak that don't know what they're doing and just dl something.
