Could you help?

I have a tiiiiny problem.
I am playing CS S for now for a lets say some time.But I had to reinstall my windows and the game broke.No problem there I reinstalled it but I noticed something that really amazed me!The bodies in my previous game were just not piling up!Now the CS S is an amazing realistic game but I just dont know why it happened.Is there a patch ot update I need to apply or what I just dont know.Also there is something other I noticed when installing the CS S again.A splash screen showed with some letters and I guessed that it was an update but I didnt want it but there was no way to stop it.It was automatic I guess.So could you please help me in some way?;(

whats so bad about updates?
and alsi, I do recall that Valve edietd the rag dolls in a patch.

I have nothing against updates I just want someone to help me!
If there is a patch or update that could fix the problem please tell me
