I was thinking that it would be fun to have a completely unmoderated board. In theory that's what off topic is, but really there's a lot of things you can't talk about here. I'd like to see a board that has no rules at all, no ****ing stupid *'s to cover up bad words or rules against spam or porn

DODHQ (an old site its gone now I think, or at least the original is) Had a board called "hell" It was pretty much the most awesome forum ever. No rules just a constant flame-fest it was hilarious. I miss dodhq

But to the original post... No mods is probably not what you think. Yeah you can cuss, and swear, and post porn... Yep... What does that do in the end towards communication? Not much... People end up digging at the pyschi of the weaker party.

The forum would have to be based on trust. If people posted porn, obsenatisies etc it would be down to the individual member to reply or ignore.

As for the weaker parties, surely you agree that we are all equal on the net.

I like freedom of speech and believe there should be no boundaries to it.

If I agree or disagree with some bodies point of view then so be it but as to whether there should be a no holds barred forum here I am all for it.

Participate or abscond it is your choose.

i think we should have this forum, but do have it moderated to a certain extent. Just so that people don't start hacking and damaging other peoples stuff. but the mods in it shouldn't give warnings for posting swearing, insults... etc.

Personally, I don't think it'd be something suitable for this site, just my opinion.. And I doubt any staff member would be in favor for it

But there are other sites with more or less moderated parts.. One thing I've found however is that the less moderated the "anything goes" forum is, the less serious the site tends to be. Some more 'professional' sites like Gamingforums for instance, don't allow warez or porn but common 'ranting and raving', if you just want to lighten your heart on the matter of George Bush for instance..

Ex staff don't like the idea neither, no matter what, the fights and crap in there would filter out into the rest of the forum and ruin it for others.

ie: same reasons the arena thread was closed.

I don't like the idea of a spam forum either. Its just not worth the bother it would cause. If anything, you would have to moderate it more than the others because there would be a high chance of people using it for illegal activities.

Hahaha, everybody who wants this kind of forum here is obviously doesn't know what kind of site this is. This is a gaming forum, dorks...it's a "kid-friendly" site. Think of what would be posted in an even more off-topic forum. Be lucky that you even get one; all discussions COULD just be limited to HL2-related things only.

I'll tell you this...if such a forum opened, I'd post things that would make sure it was closed within an hour. Horrors that would make you gouge your eyes out...such lovely sights I could show you...

Its already happened twice in the past,.

There was the Gold form and the Release forum, where people were free to go nuts and post as much crap as they liked (there was still the censorship, but big deal; the only usefull words censored here are fck and hl2wor|d).

Posting in those forums didnt add to your post count, so newbs couldnt go crazy there so that they'd look like real regs.

Actually I did kinda miss it when they took 'em away. Why not have a permy one?
