Counter-Strike: Free?

Just wanted to know your opinions guys.. is Counter-Strike the Half-Life Modification free?

It's not because all the equipment that is needed to play it, along with internet access, plus either buying HL1 or standalone CS, makes it the opposite of free.

After thinking about it, I guess the argument is as follows:

CZ 1.2 had alot of much needed updates to CS. However, CS was shafted in the process, and CZ was the only one to get these updates.

The defense? People paid for CZ, they get exclusive updates. So, people take it to "Counter-Strike costs money, too!" So, others respond "no, it's a free mod.." and, yep. You can see where that one goes.

All in all, I'd say this topic actually makes sense. My final answer.. "yes, counter-strike is free."
I bought another copy of HL at Wal-Mart last night so my brother and I could play CS online.. guess what? I didn't pay for CS, so therefore CS is free
