We haven't posted any Counter-Strike news in a while. Since its release in August Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is still going strong and, along with its predecessors, is still one of the top ten most played games on Steam. A post on the Counter-Strike blog has announced a new update to the game.
As well as some general balance tweaks, performance improvements and bug fixes the update offers an entirely new gamemode: Deathmatch. Deathmatch has players spawn in random parts of the map with random weapons with the goal to kill everything that moves. Valve recommends it as a fun way for players to learn new maps.
Finally the update includes a closed beta for Steam Workshop for the game, similar to the recent implementation for Left 4 Dead 2. If you're a map maker and want to get into the beta send an email to [email protected] with subject "Map Workshop Beta" and your Steam ID in the body of the message.
