You might have noticed the usual Friday update for CS:GO hasn't arrived for the past few weeks. According to the CS:GO blog, Valve are working their way towards the next big updates for the beta. At E3 Chet revealed that a vastly improved dynamic sound system would be added to the game, the blog now adding a little more information about this:

Meanwhile, statistical tracking improvements to matchmaking are being made with Valve keen to show the comparison of different skill levels of players in the beta, against distance for the desert eagle and rifles.We’re making a ton of changes including a rewrite of sv_pure, a new system for adjusting audio spatialization, as well as additional work for character voices
