Counter-Strike: Source and Source Engine Update Available

Counter-Strike: Source and Source Engine updates are available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:[br]

  • Improved choppy player movement when bouncing down slopes[br]
    </li>
  • Purchase icon for defuser is shown[br]
    </li>
  • Physics prop avoidance is scaled by the object's mass[br]
    </li>
  • Detail prop fade distance can be controlled on a per-map basis with env_detail_controller[br]
    </li>
  • Spectator GUI last mode is saved[br]
    </li>
  • Added spectate player by name[br]
    </li>
  • Grenades, weapons, etc., splash when they land in water[br]
    </li>
  • Frag grenade deafness is delayed so the explosion is heard[br]
    </li>
  • Fixed viewmodel lag[br]
    </li>
  • Added consistency checking player model bounds[br]
    </li>
  • Weapon reloads finish when the round restarts[br]
    </li>
  • Autobuy and rebuy trigger a reload if you don't buy a primary weapon[br]
    </li>
  • Rebuy doesn't drop pistols the player has picked up[br]
    </li>
  • Dropped weapon ammo isn't lost if the player has another weapon using that ammo[br]

  • Re-added hostage hint messages[br]

  • Smoke grenade canisters fade out and are removed when smoke is dense[br]

  • Breakable glass is blown outward proportional to the damage recieved[br]

Prodigy looks beautiful.. now just update one of the hl2.net servers with it so we can actually play it ;-)
 
Shiiit, and I've got my physics test at school tomorrow. It's past midnight in here but I think I'll find some time :thumbs:

I thought the models were to come with de_prodigy. Well, I hope we will see them before January (2005). :)
 
Very very nice update. Prodigy is perfect. I couldn't ask for a nicer retouch. All the other updates are great as well.

Too bad there are no servers available yet. I tryed making my own listen server but nobody would connect. I'll try some prodigy fun tomorrow. It's already midnight over here. Nighty night and prodigious dreams everyone. See you in the morning.

Sorry for double post I clicked "post" and then (before it finished loading) quickly went back to write something more and it looks like I wasn't fast enough and it got posted. :/
 
Anyone else get this:
Steam opened and the play games window just displayed:
checking for updates to steam games...
and didn't change?

All I had to do was restart Steam and the problem was fixed but I figure since Steam's been improving so much any bug is worth noting, especially if it turns up for a bunch of users.
 
I restarted Steam and it didn't download anything :|

And it says nothing about this update on steampowered's news page either
 
No, not recalled. I have it, very snazzy. I forsee great times on Prodigy...

Or servers could be flooded :)
 
What the! No more custom models?? Servers oughta turn off sv_consistency :(

Great, I complete half-life 2 and figure I might actually have some time to do my maths homework, but no, there's a steam update :p
 
Great update, cant wait to get home and play. but CS Source wont feel like it's complete until they add the other player models and fix the gernade pic in the menu (still showing the canister instead of the pineapple style nade).
 
Yeah, hopefully they'll update/add models before December is over. Maybe as a Christmas present.
 
I dont understand why they turned off custom models!

it's something very important to the editing/modding community :(

Every map I have played one running de_prodigy (8 sofar) loses connection and drops all the players. ???

Can't run CS:S right now...:(

well at lest you downloded the update , my steam just saying "searching for game updates", and just been like that for awhile

Omg the glass breaking part is gonna rock! i havnt gotten around ot playing yet though but im soo excited, best update yet id say!
