Never played HL1. Very new to HL2. Played for 3 or 4 hours and decided I wanted to make mods. I made the trivial introductory mod for HL2 (the one to change speed of rpg round). This is easy enough and I'm going through the code and faqs now trying to understand how the stuff is organized. This promises to be interesting; HOWEVER, what I'd really like to do is make mods to Counter-Strike. I've found lots of references on the net to CS, but no details on programming it.

Does anyone have specific knowledge about availability of the source code for counter strike? If so, from where can one get it? If not, is anyone aware of specific plans to release (or not release) it?

thanks,
fiend

Valve doesn't release the source code for CS, or any multiplayer mods for that matter. It would be suicide, the cheaters would wreak havoc. The LAST thing they need is a debug mode to figure out offsets in.

Absolutely not possible.

Soz...

there are no release plans for CS SOURCE, yet you can modify quite a bit about it... since there is an ability through server plugins. A sort of metamod style coding, but yo ucan change a lot of stuff and influence a lot of behaviours in mods...

Thanks for the responses.

Makes sense.

thanks,
