CPU Noise?

Hmmm... this is interesting...
When running a CPU intencive program, I can her a VERY faint sound, almost like a sizzling sound but I've listened to it upclose and it's not really sizzling, more of a vibrating almost. When I the application is idel, the noise stops.

The thing maxes out at about 66C which is about 5 degres below my chips max operating temperature.

Anyone else hear stuff like this?

needs more thermal paste. lots more.

Little over 2 years.
Yah, I was recently thinking of scraping off this 2 year old paste and oozing on some nice Arctic Silver for it sometime soon.

No clue what sound you heard.
It's good to replace that thermal grease once in a while.
More != better

Maybe the HSF isn't secured well.

Check to see that it's not loose in any areas, and that the fan is on tight.
