I've got an Athlon XP 1700+ and Steam says that my CPU runs at 1099 MHz. Quite frustrating... Does it change anything?

I've got 32 fps average in the VST with no AA or AF, with 512 RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro 128.

Thanks for the help.

I know, and I don't know why... the first test is all maxed, and I'm having ~38 fps when I'm on the recommended settings... both in 1024x768

Doesn't the Athlon XP 1700+ run at 1400MHz? Or 10.5x133.
What if you have the bus at 100. 10.5*100=1050MHz
Pretty close to what it is detecting at.

I'd just double check that it's running at 10.5 x 133MHz.

Yea my friend had that problem with his 1800+. CS wasn't running as good as it should for a 1800+ even after a clean format so he asked me to check what was wrong. And in the bios instead of 133x11.5=1530 it was 100x11.5 = 1150. I changed the FSB and his CS was running just fine. Don't know why the FSB reseted though.

Restart your computer, enter the bios (usually by pressing Del in the boot), look through the menus until you find the tab where you can change your Front Side Bus (FSB). It should be at 133, and the multiplier should be at 10.5.

Good luck.

Hmmm... didn't find it... maybe i'm just blind... where is it exactly?

You didn't find the Bios or the FSB adjustment ?

I suggest you find the manual for the motherboard and try and find the way to adjust the FSB in there.

Got it, thanks... now, to the VST!!! The FSB was at 100. Thanks

EDIT:40.18 fps... nice!! ~10 fps boost!!! Thanks for the tips guys!!!!

Make sure your cpu and case temperature are between 0 (unlikely :) ) and 65 Celcius at full load. If you can run Doom3 for about 2 hours with no stability problems you should be fine.
