my p4 3ghz voltage (cpuz) keeps jumping from 1.3-1.8-2.0 i am not overclocking, is this normal?

I need more details on your CPU. Knowing your FSB speed and whether if you CPU is a Prescott or Northwood core would be really helpful. Those should be enough to determine which processor right now.

From what I've gathered. A northwood should have a voltage range between 1.475 and 1.55. A prescott on the other hand should have a voltage range between 1.25 and 1.4.

northwood, with a 800 fsb

the volatge variable just went blank....

im scared, someone hold me...

Its probably a bug in CPU-z. What does your voltage say in your bios? Also, have you had any stability problems recently? What temperture is your processor at?

well, my system runs fine, but it was a little slow with a 400watt psu.

i dug up a 550watt i had (4months old) and installed that today, but it worked fine for 2months previously (case change)

will replay after intel temp moniter starts working, that just froze and i have to restart to get rid of it, hmmmm.....

What do you mean "slow"? Sounds like your PSU you just put in could be bad. Switch out power supplies and see if the problem remains. If it is really reaching 2.0 volts, that is a bad thing.

it was slow with the 400watter. the bootup took one minute and a half, and im not nittpicking, with the new 550watter, it only takes 20 seconds. but now im getting that voltage thingy. ill try the switch tomorrow

temps are 3-5 f warmers, but my room is hot anyway, no ac on all day.

F or C? If C, that means your voltages are off. If F it maybe a tad bit over-volted.

Boot up shouldn't have anything to do with your power supply AFAIK. You power supply only converts AC to DC power so your computer can use it.

well, i defer to ur knowledge, but how can u exlpain the boot time increase? it was always a minute and a half with the 400, and now with the 550, its really fast, even when i just restarted.
